I’ve liked Bruce County since I’ve been a resident of Bentinck Township…45 years.
My husband and I were married in the village of Elmwood. There were five churches in the village at that time.
I sometimes think we are on the tail end of the county and left out of the activity going on in the Northern part.I think they always treated us like country loving residents. Until T.V., we were finally “found”.
Looking at the pictures showing this afternoon of the residential homes at the top of the hill in Chesley…by the way, where I was born and started school, which has gone by the way.
There is a history of my ancestors with the furniture business in Bruce County along with the Knechtel Furniture Company in Hanover.
I think Bruce County is the most beautiful part of Ontario. I have seen a lot of Ontario from Timmins, south in the last 40 years.
Thank you God for my husband who put up with me for 45 years and my love of dogs.
There is no other place you can drive for 40 miles and see such beauty and meet friendly people as we have in our lovely county. Please don’t forget us, at the bottom of the county!.Our lovely Bentinck Township, and our township with our surrogate family of their granddaughters.
Where are you from Joy? “Why of course, BRUCE COUNTY!”
