"I’m glad that we went to the country school"
Eldon was interviewed in 1990 by the Bruce County Historical Society. He remembered, “The kids at school were very good to me … When I went to school they used slates which would scratch and screech and annoy me to no end so I was the first one to use a scribbler and pencil … it wasn’t long till all were using them. I’m glad that we went to the country school and the remembrance of all the different pupils and classes and how the teachers would teach 20 to 30 pupils at a time…” The interviews are archived at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre.
